Lyrics:

Chorus:

We need to hear the Gospel the way its meant to be

The way that Jesus taught it, on the shores of Galilee

Don't try to dress it up, don't dare change a word

Cause the words that came from Jesus are the greatest ever heard!

Bridge:

You can try to make it fit your way of life,

I'm tell'n you it'll only bring you strife

Think about the rich kid who wished to follow Christ,

He just couldn't give up the pleasures of this life.

He just turned and slowly walked away,

I often wonder where he'll be come that judgment day.

(Chorus)

(Bridge)

Woe to you Pharisees who tithed your mint and spice,

You took the Word of God and made it fit your life.

Justice, mercy, and faithfulness you treated like old shoes,

Just wait and see you dogs where the Good Lord tosses you.

(Chorus)

(Bridge)

You need to love the Good Lord with all your soul and might,

And don't forget your neighbor, your both precious in His sight.

Then one day you will hear that final trumpet blast,

And if you've followed Jesus, you will walk with Him at last.

(Chorus)

(Repeat the last line of Chorus)

“Too many times we take scripture and interpret it to fit our way of life. Just like King Jehoiakim (Jer. 36:20-25), we often pick and choose those those that are convenient, and discard the rest. However, Jesus was straightforward when he taught the Gospel. All scripture is profitable (2 Tim. 3:16), and not a matter of our own interpretation (2 Peter 1:20-21).  Still, the Pharisees (Matt. 23:13-36)and the rich man (Matt. 19:16-22) were more intent upon doing things their way than fixing their hearts on the Lord.  If we truly want to walk with Jesus in Glory Land we would be wise to hear the Gospel the way its meant to be.”
